A Pre-K to Grade 12 Independent Quaker Day School Serving the Greater Durham-Chapel Hill Area

Annual Fund

A Carolina Friends School education is a thing of great beauty and power. It reveals extraordinary possibilities — within our students, our school, and our local and global communities. Your support of the Annual Fund helps us offer students the resources they need to realize the potential they discover within themselves and all around them.

Benefit for Students

Last year, we raised about $600 per student with the Annual Fund. These funds have enhanced our students' experience by providing (based on emergent student needs and interests) classroom items and teaching tools such as:

  • Science lab equipment and materials
  • Chromebooks for student research
  • Books to support student interests and individual reading needs
  • Ongoing professional development opportunities for staff in alignment with student needs and student and staff enthusiasm
  • Resources to build new courses in the curriculum
  • Art, design, and building supplies and musical instruments

It has also supported key programs that add breadth and depth to our students' education such as:

  • End-of-Year Experience in the Upper School
  • Exploratorium in the Middle School
  • Field trips to places near and far
  • Visiting authors and artists
  • Our interscholastic athletics
  • Senior Seminar
  • Inquiry-based science programs

Quakers speak of nurturing the Light within, and I can't think of a more powerful philosophy of education — to help each child recognize and bring to the world his or her greatest gifts. Anna Jaffe '08
