STEM Learning

At Carolina Friends School, an important component to our curriculum, from our youngest learners to those preparing to being college, is building knowledge, skills, and understandings in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

We are preparing the next generation of researchers, innovators, and critical thinkers. In keeping with our mission to "foster active exploration and quiet reflection," both applied learning through hands-on experience and measured observation are vital to our educational experience. No field of study is an island here. Interdisciplinary exploration occurs through both purposefully planned collaboration and in sparks of curiosity that arise in the classroom each day.

In addition to our core curriculum progressions, our students are able to take an active role in choosing paths of interest—whether it's an Early Schooler offering a guiding question that launches a class project, a Lower Schooler presenting at a Climate Science Fair, a Middle Schooler taking a robotics elective, or an Upper Schooler competing at Science Olympiad.
