After School

Two students share their Lego design creations

Understanding that many of our families have work and other obligations beyond the traditional school day, Carolina Friends School offers Extended Day afternoon care options.

Early Schools

Extended Day at our three Early Schools provides students with engaging activities and outdoor exploration after the end of the school day. Extended Day is one of the three schedules available to families in our Early Schools, as well as half day (pickup at 12:30 pm) and full day (pickup at 3:15 pm). Extended Day for Early School students requires a commitment of five days a week throughout the year. Because of the needs around planning and costs, families must commit to five days a week of Extended Day, rather than drop-in or pro-rated care. Each family selects its preferred schedule during school-year enrollment, and cost considerations for each schedule are factored into the range of Early School tuition.

Lower and Middle Schools

Extended Day (AfterHours) for our Lower to Middle School students is available on a drop-in or monthly basis with 4:15 and 5:45 pm pickup options. Monthly contracts can range from 2-5 days per week based on a family's needs.

The Extended Day (AfterHours) Program is designed to create a safe space to do homework, enjoy a nutritious snack, and be inventors, artists, friends, teammates, quiet thinkers, explorers, and much more.

  • The program is structured to provide a variety of activities that allow student choice and direction.
  • In addition to our Lower and Middle School Extended Day teachers, students are supported by other Carolina Friends School staff and Upper School student assistants.
