Education
We are different by design. Carolina Friends School believes the best education amplifies a child's curiosity, courage, and creative thinking. We teach students how to think not what to think, preparing them to live a purposeful life. We encourage students to be the full expression of who they are, and we honor the dignity, worth, and uniqueness of every member of our community.
We set high standards in all aspects of learning. We are a scholarly community that employs the latest research and time-tested practices in our approach to education. We purposefully challenge students across a wide range of disciplines to bring about meaningful, well-rounded learning experiences. Thinking beyond a right or wrong answer, we teach students to question ideas, question the world, and question themselves. Our students are prepared to excel in college and beyond—graduating with the intellectual and emotional confidence to advocate for themselves and the greater good.
Learning at Carolina Friends School is dynamic, experiential, and interactive. Students encounter open-ended questions, undertake original projects of real relevance, explore the natural world, and immerse themselves in service learning. In doing so, they build powers of critical, creative, and independent thinking and expression. We allow for robust mixed-age learning experiences, and our Lower and Middle Schools refer to students as first through fourth years rather than by a typical grade level.
We have been at this school a mere two months and already it has proven to be life changing for our teen and our entire family.
