Volunteer Coaches Needed
Girls on the Run (GOTR) is a program that encourages girls in 3rd and 4th grades to recognize their individual strengths and celebrate connections with others. Physical activity is woven into the program to inspire an appreciation for fitness and healthy habits and to teach life skills, including practicing gratitude and managing emotions. Each season ends with a GOTR 5K event.
In order to offer a GOTR team at CFS this spring, we need volunteer mentor coaches. The 10-week spring season starts the week of February 3 and finishes with our Girls on the Run 5k on Saturday, April 25. Coaches need to be available Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00-5:00 pm.
Why coach? This is your chance to inspire and lead girls in the 3rd-8th grades. Using easy-to-follow lesson plans, a small team of coaches works together to mentor girls to grow their confidence, meet new friends, and positively impact our community. Coach mentors consistently say they learn as much from participating as the girls do.
Who can coach? Coach mentors are women at least 18 years old, including parents, guardians, grandparents, teachers, college students, and anyone with the time and heart to mentor. Women of any fitness level and physical ability can volunteer. Coaches don’t need to be runners or have coaching experience.
