A Pre-K to Grade 12 Independent Quaker Day School Serving the Greater Durham-Chapel Hill Area

Early School

Our children learn through creating deep and lasting relationships with the world around them. As they relate to one another, they develop essential social skills such as an understanding of inclusivity and conflict resolution.

We offer a vibrant program for children ages 3-6 across three campuses: on our Main Campus, 17 miles from downtown Durham or Chapel Hill, by UNC Chapel Hill's campus, and by Duke University's Central Campus. The children's learning grows from their engagement with the rich and varied materials offered in their classrooms. In the Early Schools, students, teachers, and families collaborate to set the stage for children to become seekers of knowledge all their lives.

Each Early School is open five days a week, from the end of August through early June, with occasional breaks for vacations and work days. Drop-off begins at 8:15 am and Pick-up times are 12:30, 3:15, or 5:15. Carolina Friends School also offers a summer program for Early School age children.

There are currently 57 students across our three campuses, with a student to staff ratio of 6:1.
