| Evaluation |

Evaluation is a crucial element in any school, and it is an element to which much time, thought, and care is given in the Middle School. Students do not receive grades for their course work. Instead, at the end of each 9-week session, each student receives from each teacher a written evaluation which provides both the student and the parents with narrative comments on the student's progress, success, and areas of needed concentration. This system directs the student towards those strengths of which s/he can be proud, and alerts the student to weaknesses on which s/he should focus time and attention. The evaluation addresses a student's attitude, productivity, contributions, and special achievements. Two parent-teacher conferences are scheduled during the school year, and additional conferences can be scheduled at any time. A final, year-end report, written by the student's advisor, is sent home in June. |
