Graduation 2010

More than 450 parents, family, staff, alumni, alumni parents, and friends gathered on Sunday June 13, 2010 to take part in the Meeting for Worship with Attention to Graduation.

CFS Principal Mike Hanas, "the School's tallest student," welcomed parents, family members, teachers, alumni, alumni parents, and friends. He then asked the crowd to congratulate the Class of 2010, who processed down the aisle and took their seats on the risers to a lengthy standing ovation.
Mike briefly explained the CFS tradition of graduation being a Meeting for Worship with Attention to Graduation. The heart of the Meeting is nearly an hour of silent reflection during which those who are led to speak, may do so.
Then everyone settled into the silence customary for such occasions. Several staff spoke in their role as teachers--including Carrie Huff and Henry Walker--and at least one spoke as the mother of a member of the class--Renee Prillaman.
A number of parents spoke of their hopes for the members of the class, their appreciation for the care and vigor with which their children were nurtured, and the warmth of fellow parents who welcomed the students into their homes. Several alumni spoke of the paths they had taken and offered advice to the current class.
Excerpts of some of the comments and more photos, may be seen here....
After nearly an hour of Silent Meeting, the awarding of diplomas began. Mike read the text of one of the diplomas and then read the names of each of the graduates. One by one, all the members of the class received their diplomas, hugs, and fond words from Mike and Carrie, Upper School Head Teacher.
Re-visit the page as we will be adding photos and some of the comments of those who spoke.
