MORNING SCENARIO:
Each group has a sign-in sheet with a roster for that week. Please sign in and out!
Ages 6-8 meet in the Lower School area, since this
is where their workshops and Kidspace will
meet.
Ages 8-13 meet in the Gym area.
Morning means everyone comes in at different
time...so the activities are more low
key with card games, board games, or coloring, LEGOS, and toys (for the younger set).
TIME FOR CAMP:
At
8:55, we help escort the children to their various camps or workshops.
The campers are escorted by the Extended Day morning staff. Our
morning staff includes college and high school age assistants as well
as one adult leader.
AFTERNOON SCENARIO:
Ages 6-8 meet in the Lower School. They can play indoors or outdoors with supervision...
- Outdoors there are basketball courts, soccer fields, areas to hang out in the
sand pile, slides and swings;
- Indoor activities may involve dancing to music, reading (and being
read to), board games and some craft activities.
There is a snack at 4:15 for those campers staying on until 5:30 and usually that is when a story is read to them.
We try to make our Extended Day activities fun and interesting! Sometimes at the end of
the day, just being with a counselor and a small group of friends is sufficient, especially
when we have our super-hot humid days. So just relaxing and reading books or playing
board games is fun, giving the campers a chance to socialize.
Ages 8-13 meet in the gym area. There are many spaces for campers to play...
- The foyer for games, craft activities, foosball, and reading
- Outside
front for four square and water games; outside back: soccer field for
running or playing frisbee;Inside gym for basketball, games, and other
indoor activities;
- Plus we have a wooded area for playing Capture the Flag (camp favorite).
Snack
is served at 4:15 - 4:30 which is always the big event of the
afternoon. We serve macaroni and cheese (homemade), popcorn (freshly
popped), cookies, quesadillas, cheese and crackers, watermelon, bagels
and cream cheese, peanut butter and apples or crackers (yes, we watch
out for our peanut allergies), fruit in season, and also we have the
cooking classes make a snack for the group (that's always a hit!).
Most of the campers spend their time in our big air-conditioned gym
playing group games like Spider Ball.
Our
afternoon staff consists of one adult leader for each group and several
college and/or high school age assistants (with lots of stamina).
