Registration Information:
To register, print out the registration packet, fill out and mail back to 4809 Friends School Rd., Durham, NC 27705. The completed registration forms should be accompanied by the program fee(s), and a permission/emergency form (included in the registration packet). Fees for each program can be found next to the camp description for each age group. Fees to be paid in full at registration. However, campers enrolling in multiple camps/workshops may pay in installments (50% at enrollment; 50% by April 29, 2010 with an additional non-refundable $10 processing fee).

Final payment must be received by April 29, 2010, or your space may be forfeited and you will be charged a late fee. Checks or money orders only. No credit cards.

There is a one-time $15 non-refundable registration fee per family each year. Priority given to those families requesting multiple workshops.

After April 12, we take registrations by email at cfssummer@nc.rr.com or fax at
(919) 383-6009.

Registration is complete when full payment is received, and we must have your permission/emergency form on file. You risk losing your space if your file is not complete with registration form(s), payment, and permission/emergency form(s). For financial aid information, please contact us at (919) 384-9089 or cfssummer@nc.rr.com.

Disclaimer: see note below.

Extended Day:

We have Extended Day for children needing care before and/or after workshops and camps. Campers have activities indoors in air-conditioned buildings and outdoors. It is run by adult leaders with college/high school assistants (1-6 ratio). There are planned activities organized daily. The fee for extended day is a separate charge. You may add Extended Day at any time with at least ONE WEEK NOTICE. Please note that there will be a $5 late fee assessed for EVERY 5 MINUTES beyond the registered Extended Day period. Please pick up on time and respect our staff. There are four plans:

Early morning (8am drop off):
$20 per week
Extended afternoon (4:00 pm pickup): $20 per week
Extended afternoon (5:30pm pickup): $55 per week
AM and PM Extended (8am drop off and 5:30 pm pickup): $65 per week

Tax ID Number:
Our tax ID number is 56-0812560.
Late Registration/Wait List:
We keep a wait list to fill cancellations. Enrollments are accepted up to the first day of each session.

If a class is full, we will put your child's name on a wait list or you can choose an alternate class. In the event an opening occurs and your child is next on the list, we will contact you to see if you are still interested in the space.  If you only want to be put on a wait list, send in a registration without a check or with a check (we will hold it until you get in the class). We will call you as soon as there is an opening to see if you are still interested.

We know that plans change for families -- if you are interested in a particular workshop, there is a very good chance that there may be an opening.  We place campers on wait lists, recording the date and time for each request.  Our goal is to have happy campers ... we will work hard to keep you informed of changes.

Remember that, as families' plans change, so does our website so check back with us. We will keep our website up to date on openings.

Refund Policy/Change Fees:
If a program is filled or cannot be offered, CFS refunds ALL payments. If YOU decide to cancel, we issue refunds (minus $30.00 fee per camp) until April 29, 2010. Please understand that we have contracts with our summer staff.

AFTER April 29, refunds are possible only if we fill your child's place (99% refill record). However, at that time there is a $50.00 cancellation fee deducted for each camp cancellation. Cancellations must be in writing by email, fax, or letter.   No phone calls, please.

IF Carolina Friends Summer Programs cancels a session, a full refund will be given should the camper choose not to attend another session. Refunds will NOT be awarded should a camper leave camp early, regardless of day or situation, including illness.

Changes made to an enrollment will be made if space is still available. There is a $10 administrative change fee. Changes may involve switching weeks or switching workshops. Any changes made during a session will incur a $15 fee.  Please note these additional charges before making a change.

Late Pick-up Fees:
If you are late picking up your child after a workshop (and not enrolled in Extended Day), your child will be taken to the Extended Day site and signed in. You will be charged $10 per hour. Please be on time! 3 pm is pick up in the afternoon in the front of the school -- just drive in and your child will be waiting with his/her group and teacher.   If you are late picking up from extended day after 4:00 or 5:30 (depending on your plan), there is a $5 late fee per five minutes.  Please be on time; our staff needs to go home.
Transportation:

Transportation is on minibuses with seat belts (seats 14) for field trips.

Lunch & Snacks:
All campers should bring their own lunch (including drinks), a snack and a waterbottle. We do have a camp store located in the gym that is open for drinks, treats and snacks.

The snack bar is open at 10:30am for morning snacks. At lunch time, campers can get snacks such as Cup of Soup, quesadillas, hot dogs, ice cream treats, pizza, grilled cheese sandwiches, chips, Gatorade and small item candies (Reese's, Snickers snack size, gummy worms). We also offer juice by the glass. Prices range from .25 to 1.00 per item.

On Wednesdays, we provide FREE ICE CREAM for all campers; if you do not want your camper to have ice cream, please notify us prior to that week so that we can make adjustments. Please notify us if there are any food allergies by indicating this on your medical form.

Swimming:
We will swim at Camp New Hope this year which is about 15 minutes from our campus in minibuses with seat belts for all (seats 14).  Kidspace is the only camp that goes swimming, twice a week (Tuesday and Thursday).
FAQ's (Frequently Asked Questions):
Q: Where is Carolina Friends School located?
A: See the Map & Directions link for specific information.
Q: What ages are the camps for?
A: CFS Summer Programs are for ages 4 to 15. The age of the campers is next to

the camp title but the age range is flexible. If you feel that your child works better with older or younger peers, then enroll in an age-appropriate camp. If a workshop doesn't work out for your child, we can MAKE A CHANGE (not cancel) IF and only IF there is another available workshop or camp.  There is a $15 change fee.
Q: What if my child doesn't like the workshop he is enrolled in?
A:If your child is enrolled in a workshop that doesn't work out for him or her, this needs to be discussed with the teacher and then the director.   Although we strive to have happiness as our goal, every child is different and every situation is different. We may not be able to change your child's workshop, but we'll try to work with your camper and you.  Changing a workshop during a session is like cancelling the workshop.
Q: Do you accept credit cards for payment?
A: Sorry, no credit cards.
Q: Is there food at CFS for my child to purchase?
A: We have a snack bar (see above).
Q: Will we receive a refund if my child is ill?
A: We cannot refund for illness unless we can fill your child's space.  We regret this inconvenience, but we have contracts with our teachers and cannot deduct their salaries due to a camper's illness.  Unfortunately, there can be no exceptions to this policy as contracts as soon as a workshop is full.
Q: Where and when do camps take place?
A: All camps (except those at CHES ) take place on our main campus at
4809 Friends School Road from 9am to 3:00 pm,  Monday-Friday with extended day optional in the mornings and afternoons.
Q: What is the difference between Kidspace and a workshop for ages 6-8?
A: See Kidspace vs. Workshop?
Notes:

We reserve the right to ask a camper NOT to return due to behavioral problems. Camp fees will be forfeited. Also, if insufficient information is provided on a medical form and our teachers are unable to work with a camper due to behavioral issues connected to a medical or behavioral condition not revealed, we reserve the right to not invite the camper back. Please give us the necessary information we need to make sure your child has a pleasant experience.

**Any clerical errors on this website or on our brochure are due to human error and should be forgiven. We will update this website on a regular basis to continue to strive for some modicum of unattainable perfection.  If you feel inclined to notify us of an error or inconsistency that we have not noticed, please email us at cfssummer@nc.rr.com.  We welcome your input but only if it is delivered in a positive upbeat manner.  Thank you.
