CFS Alumnus Profiled on the Art and Meaning of Magic
The article on Joshua Lozoff (89‘) in The Independent Weekly proves
that he is not your ordinary magician.
For example, he relates the importance of performing magic to
the Industrial Revolution. And, for Joshua it's about creating “a higher peak of life for a moment….”
And, he doesn’t’ perform a series of unrelated “tricks.”
In his Parlor Magic show Josh begins by
simply telling the audience “a story about his own history in magic. As the conversation
develops, an event occurs that really shouldn't be able to happen. Then another
one does, slyly interwoven into the threads of Lozoff's narrative, but
otherwise uncommented upon until after both have taken place.”
His show is artfully designed so that “the effects accumulate
and connect” into an organic whole.
