Welcome

Welcome to the CFS Admission site! Whether you’re learning about Carolina Friends School for the first time or curious about recent news, we’re glad you’re here. And yes, it is still possible to apply for fall 2010. We're full in most classes, but we have a couple of spaces, and we always accept applications in the event that families change their plans and openings arise.

Applying for 2010-2011

We welcome inquiries from parents of children of ages 3 to 18. We give priority consideration in the first rounds of admission to applications received by January 4 for students applying to our Early Schools (enrolling students ages 3 – 6) and the first-year classes in Lower School, and by January 15 for students applying to the second year of Lower School through Upper School. We always continue to accept students after the first rounds and welcome applications at any time.

We coordinate notification dates with other schools in the Triangle Independent School Consortium. If you are applying to more than one Consortium school, we want you to have full information before deciding where to send your children to school.

Please join us for a campus tour or open house!
We offer tours during the school day from October through April. You are also welcome to join us for fall Open Houses (see below for 2010 Open Houses).
Diversity at CFS

We are pleased to note that 24% of our students strengthen racial/ethnic diversity at CFS. CFS was founded in 1962 as one of the first schools in the southeast to pursue a deliberate policy of racial integration, and attracting and retaining families of color, along with families who represent other kinds of diversity, continues to be a priority. CFS is an independent school, with families of diverse religious backgrounds; around 8% of our families attend Quaker Meetings.

Socioeconomic diversity is also important at Carolina Friends School. CFS allocates a higher percentage of tuition revenue to tuition assistance (over 10%) than most independent schools of our size in this region. This year, we raised over $137,000 in additional money for an Economic Relief Program to help students attend CFS. Over 20% of our families receive need-based assistance, and admission decisions are made without consideration of whether a family would need financial assistance.
