Student Support

At Carolina Friends School, we are committed to nurturing a diverse community of learners. We value the unique contributions of each child and appreciate that students learn differently. Teachers work to understand students’ learning needs and design classroom activities accordingly.

As is true at all schools, some students at CFS have identified learning differences or special needs. Our flexible curriculum, teacher-student ratio for academic work, and commitment to professional development enable teachers to work successfully with a variety of students.

We make accommodations for individual student learning needs, while endeavoring to remain present to the needs of all students and their opportunities to learn. Some students benefit from the support of tutors or other professionals, arranged by parents through the Student Success Program. These tutors and coaches are paid by parents, through the School. Students can be tutored or coached either during the school day or after school.

If children have had assessments prior to applying to CFS, we ask parents to share these as part of the admission process. This information and conversations with parents help to provide a more complete picture of each student.
