Each teacher writes a term report—a one-page evaluation of a student’s performance in a class during the term. It includes a combination of quantitative information (test scores) and qualitative information (subjective evaluations).

Advisors have parent/teacher conferences with each advisee’s parents twice a year. In these conferences both the social and academic issues facing the student are discussed. The winter term conference utilizes a student-led model.

In Upper School students begin to get into more traditional assessments and tests (PSAT, etc), but they are not exclusive of other assessments. For example, students do hands-on projects such as designing a solar home and also have rigorous traditional tests. In lieu of a research paper, some teachers ask students to complete a project that reflects the scope of their learning.
