| Curriculum at its best empowers students gradually to make choices related to their own learning, to experiment, and to develop more fully the habits and skills necessary for lifelong learning. |

Starting with the class of 2005, all students will be required to undertake a senior project. These projects can take a variety of forms (from hands-on building projects to a senior thesis) and can be in any subject area. Students develop ideas for projects during a junior class retreat in the spring and begin to plan how they will undertake the project during a three-day senior class retreat at the beginning of the year.

Students can develop Independent Study projects to explore a topic in greater depth or a topic that is outside the curriculum offerings. These projects and require students to complete work and assignments on a schedule that they create with the guidance of a staff member.

During our two-week End of Year sessions, students arrange internships that allow them to pursue a particular interest. Students have interned with journalists, politicians, doctors, social service providers, policemen, etc.
