Curriculum at its best recognizes and nurtures a variety of modes of learning within a rich academic context.
  • Our academic offerings include a variety of courses that are appropriate and specialized to reach all our students. Courses are offered at different levels to address students at all levels of learning.

  • The Upper School Staff is trusted to teach to their interests and passions. We have a teacher-developed curriculum. Teachers set the appropriate curriculum for their discipline and offer elective courses (six per year) that speak to their specific outside interests.

  • The trimester schedule lends itself to variety. We have a schedule with six shorter periods (45 minutes, four times a week) and two longer periods (75 minutes, 2 times a week) that allow more in-depth engagement in a topic. The US Learning Coordinator teaches a half time schedule and works with students, staff and parents on particular learning difficulties the rest of the day. He organizes in-service opportunities for the staff to learn more about particular challenges (ADHD) and provides space for students to take extended time on tests and get the extra help they need.

Matt Jessee and his science students do a physics experiment.
