| Curriculum at its best reflects, even highlights, the diversity of our society and our global community. |

Middle School First Year students learn about and celebrate the differences in our community and country at their Ellis Island simulation. After studying the contributions of various cultures to our nation, students take the roles of immigrants and immigration officials for the simulation. Some student immigrants are allowed in, others are denied entry. The entire unit of study allows our First Year students, who are, in a sense, immigrants to the Middle School, to connect their personal experiences with their academic exploration.
