Curriculum at its best incorporates service into the daily experience of students.

Our students shuck corn as they help to prepare a Thanksgiving meal for their families.

The concept of service begins by caring for one’s own immediate environment. Early school children are picking up litter left behind by members of their own community. They question one another “Why do people do this?”

While walking a trail in Duke Forest the class came upon a fallen tree. “Can we pick this tree up and move it by ourselves?” they wondered. You can see the answer. Children learn that service to others can be planned and spontaneous.

During the holiday’s we gather and give
food to an ‘adopted’ family in need.
